On this fateful evening nineteen years ago, nearly three thousand people were about to spend their last night on earth. They had no idea of the terror about to be wrought in the coming hours.
Americans today often fail to realize what it's like to work in a career that may require making the ultimate sacrifice. They don't understand the mettle of our thin line heroes... On 9/11, this mettle was on display for all to see.
Of the 2,977 lives lost, over 400 were first responders. These brave men and women ran towards the collapsing towers and burning rubble to save anyone they could. They made the ultimate sacrifice so that others may live.
As we contemplate this great loss of life in the ruthless terrorist attack of 9/11, we must ensure that America will not forget. Our thin line heroes need us now more than ever... They need to know that their communities support and appreciate their service.
