Most people have no idea how Police encounters unfold, especially the ones where Officer Involved shootings occur. Even worse, the ones where an Officer goes down.

For a police officer working at night is extremely hazardous, especially if working alone! In this day and age, there appears to be more lawlessness, as evidenced in New York City, Portland, Oregon, Chicago, Illinois, Seattle Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland California as prime examples! The police are often not supported, due to the political situation nowadays.
Sometimes, the extremely biased media, will manipulate events to their liking, to put the police
in a bad light, knowing that it will lead to more news stories about "peaceful protestors" who may choose to riot, loot, burn, or whatever. It's too bad that reporting is not Fair and Balanced, without all the politics! Prayers are with the wounded police officer; hope justice will be served!
Only problem I see is that the suspect is still breathing !!!!!
Most people have no clue how many times a situation goes from 0 to 60 in mere milliseconds !!!!! But, sure let's send unarmed social workers to handle things !!!!! INSANITY
This is why LAPD officers always use the bright beam lights on both sides of the patrol cars to completely light up an area at night before they even approach suspects. They light the suspects up standing at a distance with their hands on their weapons or drawn and then they order suspects to put "their hands in the air where they can be seen" First. This has to be done everytime at night. Too dark to see or take chances.
When they find that shooter take him out! He is a cold blooded murderer and will attack others.
