Only a few general officers, from any military, have been killed in combat since the Vietnam war. The latest is Major General Andrei Sukhovetsky, deputy commander of the Russian 41st Combined Arms Army.
General Andrei Sukhovetsky's death has been confirmed by both Ukrainian and Russian news sources.
The details of how the General was killed are not known at this time, though it is suspected that he was taken out by a Ukrainian sniper. What we do know is that his death is likely dealt a heavy blow to the Russian military forces.
The Russian military is reportedly already suffering low moral, both from the tenacious resistance of Ukraine and the lack of desire to attack in the first place.

This is a win for Ukraine, however small. Only time will tell if they can continue to tough it out and withstand the continued Russian invasion.

To win a war, you target command and control opportunities. You also put a priority on disrupting supply lines. Interesting to see what develops as I pray for the Ukrainian families and the Russian troops that had no idea what they were stepping in.
I wonder if General Andrei Sukhovetsky understood that he was fighting on the wrong side of history. At his level of military rank, he must have known that his weapons were destroying ordinary civilian housing blocks, kindergartens, schools, hospitals and shopping malls. Did he really think he was attacking military targets ? Did he really believe that he was attacking gangs of neo-nazis and drug gangs ? Or was he in on the plan to add more territory to the largest country on the face of the Earth that is Russia today ? Was he one of those people who are driven to conquer more territory to add to the economic wasteland of Russia that cannot survive in the modern world without accessing the resources and technology of the hundreds of smaller countries around the world that have developed the arts and sciences of living in free and peaceful communities in the more advanced manner of the western world ? Was he aware that he was trying to achieve the dream of the paranoid dictator who wants to direct and control the lives of so many ordinary people round the world who just want to decide their lives for themselves ?

I am not , not for their corrupt government. The United States has no business even talking about sanctioning flyover’s Ukraine or sending our troops into harms way. How many of you will give your hard earned money to total strangers coming into your home, ignoring that they are tearing up your home but giving your money to a corrupt neighbors who comes into your home and helps destroy your home as well. Well this is our Southern border. What kind of a sick damp sock puppet sends billions of dollars to Putin for oil while we root and wear yellow and blue flags at the SOTU so the world can see just how wonderful the United States is. It really troubles me to see what corrupt governments do to it’s hard working citizens. The modern day Russian army is a far cry from the one that locked horns with the Nazi hoards in WWII. If Ukraine gets enough assistance they’ll make life just as miserable as it was during their Afghanistan invasion. Their logistical capabilities pale in comparison to the US and both of these ‘adventures’ were/are on the border!! Ukraine remember’s what Statin did to them in the 1930s. Freed from that yoke in 1991, they look to willing to fight to remain free.
