Firefighters Among The Dead Amid Continued Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

Twelve Ukrainian firefighters have been slain in the line of duty according to the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and the Polish State Fire Service.

Ukraine is no shining example of democracy and freedom, but two things can be true: Ukraine is riddled with corruption and the Russian invasion of a sovereign nation is wrong.

While all deaths are tragic, there is a special place in our hearts for those who sacrifice their lives to save others. The twelve firefighters who died in the line of duty to save Ukrainian citizens are true heroes.

"These heroic public servants, killed in the line of duty while continuing fire and rescue operations under the hostilities of war, have demonstrated true selfless courage. The safety of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and their firefighters remain in the thoughts of the IAFC membership as we wish for peace in Ukraine."

IAFC President Ken Stuebing

Firefighting is a dangerous job without the complication of being within a warzone. It is truly horrendous what these men and women have to face while working tirelessly to save others.

Americans should have nothing but respect for fire crews and other first responders who've remained in the warzone and continue to do their jobs.

  1. I'm glad the writers mentioned that Ukraine is not a SHINING example of democracy. I believe Russia is FAR FAR worse. Still, in the midst of its troubles Ukraine has brave first responders.
