The average wait time for a Military veteran to see a VA doctor is 22 days. Yet, the Biden administration is preparing to send Doctors and Nurses to provide medical services to illegal immagrants.
It’s important to note that the sick and injured should be cared for, that is not the problem. The issue here is where those resources are being drawn from and who is suffering because of it.
This diversion of VA resources comes after a judge struck down the Biden administrations bid to lift Title 42, a measure implemented by the Trump administration to prevent COVID-19 from spreading rapidly from alleged asylum seekers at the border.
The judge blocking the lifting of Title 42 stated that the measure could not be lifted until there was a plan in place to address the inevitable border surge.
Fortunately, a group of GOP senators immediately acted to prevent the diversion of resources from the VA by introducing a bill that would:
“prohibit the use by the Department of Veterans Affairs of funds to provide emergency assistance at the southern border of the United States resulting from the repeal of certain public health orders, and for other purposes.”Source
Senator Marco Rubio made it clear where he and other GOP representatives stand:
“It’s despicable that the Biden administration would prioritize resources for illegal immigrants over the veterans who bravely served our country,… This bill would ensure that VA resources are not diverted to deal with the administration’s growing border surge.”Police Tribune
When wait times for Military veterans to receive care average 22-45 days, it is truly despicable to divert resources that would increase these wait times.
Not only is this move a slap in the face of those who’ve served, it is a deterrent for anyone who seeks to serve in the future. Why would anyone sign up to put their life on the line if it means they will be abandoned in the end?
We hope that this terrible decision will be blocked and that the Military veterans in America receive better treatment going forward, not worse.
