Kentucky Police Officers Killed, Multiple Injured In Shootout Serving Domestic Violence Order

Multiple Kentucky police officers were killed with several others injured in a shootout Thursday evening while serving a domestic violence order.

Among the dead are Floyd County Sheriff’s K9 Drago and his handler, Deputy William Petry.

Police have charged 49-year-old Lance Storz with two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, and for assault of a service animal. Storz allegedly opened fire at police from his home with a rifle when police arrived to investigate an alleged sexual assault.

The injured officers were taken to various local hospitals for treatment, some remain in critical condition.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers that police officers face every day while serving and protecting our communities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both the fallen and the injured.
