The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office reports that an elderly couple trapped by the Mosquito fire called in to report that they were trapped inside the fire line with no escape route. 

An Deputy drove through the flames and into the fire line to rescue the couple and their two dogs, as their vehicle was disabled. However, as they were evacuating, the fire spread to both sides of the road resulting in reduced visibility. 

At one point, the Deputy had to stop, allowing the flames to touch the vehicle. Once the smoke cleared, he was able to start driving again.

Thankfully, the Deputy was able to get the couple and their dogs to safety.
