One day before Rochester's top cop's resignation went into effect, She released bodycam footage of a robbery that left the gunman dead.
Police Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan gave a briefing on the video of the incident involving the armed robber and police officers.
“It’s always been my goal to be as transparent as possible with the public and to share as much information as we can while keeping in mind that we have to respect the evidentiary value in certain instances."

According to Herriott-Sullivan, a hang-up 911 call came in at around 9:32 p.m. on October 6th. When the operator called the number back, they got an employee of a Family Dollar store off West Main Street in Rochester.
The employee said, "We're getting robbed. There is a male holding the store manager at gunpoint." According to WROC, the robber was described as a black man in a blue hoodie and a mask.
After the officer asks if anyone has a gun, they see a suspect matching the description with both of his hands in his front pocket. The officer said, "Let me see your hands. Get out of your pocket, get your hands out of your pocket."
In the video, you can see that the suspect ignores the officer's and takes off down the aisle. The suspect, Simran Gordon, 24, was chased by one of the officers. Gordon shot the officer through a paper bag, and the officer fired back. In the video, you can hear another shot two seconds later.

Bodycam footage shows the other officer running down a parallel aisle. He runs into Gordon, who is at the end on the ground. The handgun with the brown paper bag still around it is aimed at the officer.
According to police, the officer fired a single shot at Gordon. You can hear both officers asking him to drop the gun in the video, and he did not. They were eventually able to kick it away.
The officers faced criticism for not giving Gordon aid faster despite calling for an ambulance 30 seconds after the shooting.
“The officers did not initially render first aid to Mr. Gordon because they had to ensure there were no other suspects in the store or at the scene for everyone’s safety. Our condolences go out to the family of Mr. Gordon.”
