Army Black Hawk Helicopter Variant: The UH-60V

 July 22, 2022

There is a new sibling in the Black Hawk helicopter family. The U.S. Army revealed the latest model, the UH-60V, in a ceremony located at the Pennsylvania National Guard's Eastern Army National Guard Aviation Training Site.

EAATS Training

Six UH-60Vs were sent to EAATS from the Utility Helicopter Program Office toward the end of July. Instructors took the time between July and now to train on the new model to be ready to train students.

“The ‘Victor’ model will extend the Army’s capability and capacity to meet the demands placed on the joint force. Additionally, the model will ensure national security and support warfighters now and well into the future.”

General Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler

EAATS was one of the first Army units to get the new variant. Schindler was honored and excited that EAATS was picked to be the very first unit with the UH-60V.

“The EAATS is an accomplished organization, proving time and time again to be a force multiplier for all components of the U.S. Army and our multi-national partners, unmatched in the Army enterprise.”

New Variant Design

The UH-60A and L fleet were beginning to show their age, so the UH-60V was created as an upgrade. The variant has an updated digital glass cockpit, a certified GPS RNAV database, and advanced flight planning and mission capability.

Brig. Gen. Robert Barrie said in the ceremony that the UH-60V is the Army's first opportunity to update the helicopters it currently has.

“And because our threat is evolving faster than we are, and because our dollars are limited, it was absolutely essential that we find a way to bring capability onto our platforms more affordable and more rapidly, and that’s what this platform is the first of our ability to do.”

Brig. Gen. Robert Barrie

Brig. Gen. Stanley Budraitis agreed, saying the program is vital to the United States. EAATS and other organizations are working together to create a training program for the helicopter.

Chief Warrant Officers 5 Jake Russell, an instructor and test pilot for EAATS, said the variant is a modernized aviation platform that will assist with the Army's needs as they evolve.

“Whether using the GPS navigation capability in the national airspace system or flying tactical routes in the battlespace, the UH-60V’s integrated avionics package provides the necessary information for safe and efficient mission execution.”

  1. Yay! All for it as long as Biden the Questionable and his lap dog Merrick Garland don't use it against Parents protesting Critical Race Theory and anyone else opposing the Democratic Dictatorship these buzzards are foisting on the American People!

    1. One has to worry about our enemies getting the upgrade. Heard on the news that this administration is wanting to send money to Afghanistan for the Taliban to use. Hope we are
not paying for upgrading the weapons, like helicopters we left behind, with our tax dollars. Never will forget all the money and treasure the Obama Administration gave to Iran, which they could use to perfect their armaments, against what they call the Great and Little Satan's (USA & Israel). We are living in a dangerous world! Common Sense seems appears to have been lost somewhere along the line!

      1. We don't need to worry about them GETTING the upgrades, they already have them. You don't think that the base we gave to them was striped bare do you ? I would bet my bottom dollar, that the base was FULLY STOCKED with everything from spare parts & extra equipment, all the way down to the base commander's favorite coffee.
I hope I'm wrong, but with all the backdoor deals going on with our present administration and top military brass, I don't think I am.

        1. I'm feeling the same way you are! All that military equipment should have been destroyed! Just doesn't make sense to walk off and leave it to our enemies!

          1. The base should never have been abandoned in the first place another Screw up by Biden ,Austin, And Milley

        2. L.W. I think you are right. I now fear this corrupt government and don’t know if We The People can trust this military. We know that this fake president and his administration are all evil and I believe our military has been bought off. We will just need to wait and see. Kind of like Red dawn. One more thing every one who believes in GOD and JESUS please pray for our America.

  2. I wonder how this chopper fares against the Chinese supersonic missile. Actually, as a veteran I am happy to see any tech advancements. I heard dopey Joe say we have the greatest military in the world when asked about Taiwan at his CNN sponsored clown session in Baltimore. What he didn't say was that he is doing everything he can to make our military second or third rate!!

  3. We need to send these new gunships on strike missions to destroy all of the military equipment that Uncle Brandon left behind & gave to the terrorist. Blast the helicopters & all of our left behind vehicles on the ground & destroy any other equipment that we can find. Of course that will have to wait until the rightful president is returned to the White House.

  4. I am grateful for the development of the UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopter by the U.S. Army. I can tell that this complex and powerful intricate woven aircraft would be highly sought after in dubious wartime encounters, difficult rescue missions, and scientific exploratory operations.
