Polish Border Control Shows how it's Done

 October 3, 2023

Polish border control policies recently thwarted an attempt by dozens of migrants to illegally cross into the country from Belarus.

The incident involved around 60 mostly young male migrants, predominantly from Iran and Iraq. The Polish Ministry of Defence released footage showing migrants throwing stones and sticks at the border guards, who responded with pepper spray to maintain the integrity of the border.

This event contrasts sharply with the current state of the U.S. southern border, where illegal crossings continue to be a significant issue.

Effectiveness of Polish Border Guards

Polish border guards faced a group of around 60 migrants who were attempting to breach the border at Dubicz Cerkiewne.

The migrants were armed with bolt cutters and wooden logs, aiming to cut through the wire fence separating Poland and Belarus. The guards, however, stood their ground, using pepper spray to repel the migrants and maintain the border's integrity.

The Ministry of Defence stated, "Defending the inviolability of the border is an obligation, but also the right of every state."

The Numbers Speak for Themselves

According to Gazeta Współczesna, there have been 1,077 attempted illegal crossings between Belarus and Poland in September alone, with nearly 22,000 since the start of the year.

To counter this, Poland erected an 18-foot high wall along 115 miles of the border and installed surveillance equipment.

These actions demonstrate a commitment to border security that is notably lacking in the United States.

A Stark Contrast with the U.S. Southern Border

The effectiveness of Poland's border control measures stands in stark contrast to the situation at the U.S. southern border.

Footage shared by Texas Governor Greg Abbott showed U.S. border officials cutting through razor wire to allow migrants to enter the country.

Such actions undermine the efforts of those who are trying to migrate to the U.S. legally and raise questions about the government's commitment to border security.

Conclusion

While Poland's border guards show dedication and resilience in maintaining their country's border integrity, the U.S. seems to be struggling with its own border issues.

Illegal immigration not only poses security risks but also undermines the efforts of those who are trying to migrate legally.

It's time for the U.S. to take a leaf out of Poland's book and prioritize effective border control.

  1. I had an understanding that one of the primary purposes of our armed forces is to defend our borders.
So, replace the border patrol with US Military personnel (let the Border patrol maintain the fences) and give the US military "shoot to kill" orders for illegal border crossers.
