Every year when these wildfires break out in California I ask the same stupid question. When are they going to put desalination plants along the California coast and use that water they have been sitting on for milennia to irrigate thoe dry areas to prevent these fires? The people in California are a strange bunch - they worry about the oceans rising in the next 1000 years and drowning them. They worry about polluting the air in California with gas powered cars etc but apparently don't give a damn about the breathing problems created in neighboring states from the smoke from their annual wildfires. Instead of creating hazardous waste sites and trying to ship all the hazardous waste created in the production of micro-chips and solar panels to other states - MAYBE - they should practice what they preach.
For such a "forward thinking" state, you would almost think they would have figured out the benefits of "selective cutting" and forest clean-up by now, wouldn't you?
i remember when trump went there and had the forest head with him and they both agreed that cutting the underbrush on a regular basis would prevent the wide spread fires and isolate to a small area.so i say to california burn baby burn!

That would take common sense.So many people bereft.
Another question to ask is when will they allow the forestry service to practice good forest management? I lived for 40 yrs in "next door neighbor" AZ, before the altitude got to me & forced me to move lower. AZ is also prone to desert & high desert wildfires. But AZ allowed the forestry service to manage the forests, including controlled burns, to prevent the enormous build-up of fire fuel,to which those wildlands are prone. They also encouraged clear interfaces with wildlands to minimize risks to lives & property, required keeping residential properties cleared of excess fuel in the dry season, & cleared brush along public thoroughfares. It didn't stop fires, of course, but it made them easier to control & mitigated the damage from them. But, for some crazy reason CA has opposed doing that all those decades. And every yr they have massive devastating fires there. I'd think the voters would be tired of it.
Way to go Mike. California needs some smart government. Their dems need to go.
Get more inmates to fight fires then statewide
Wild fires only break out with lightening. Majority are set by energy company.,humans,or terrorists.

True, but also just plain stupidity as well; a carelessly tossed match or cigarette; a campfire not properly built & tended, including in homeless camps, a hot mudfler on a dirt bike in tall weeds, any number of causes, not just intentional arson.
