On April 30, 1980 a group of six armed men stormed the Iranian embassy on Prince's Gate in South Kensington, London.
The gunmen, members of a terrorist sympathetic group for Arab national sovereignty in the southern Iranian region of Khuzestan Province, took 26 people hostage. Over the course of 5 days negotiators were unable to make any headway.
The entire attack proved to be a big mistake, as the British SAS were tasked with ending the siege. They did so, though not without a terrible cost:

It’s Insane to question if the Rescuers played nice, after most of the Hostages were rescued …

These civilized peaceniks are "nuts" - - -there is NOTHING about a terrorist that is "nice, civilized, OR peaceful" and leopards DO NOT change their spots. This is something I recall vaguely. It happened about 38 years ago but it is still the right path to take...NEVER negotiate with belligerents!
