A police officer's side hustle as a DJ led to a 30-day suspension after allegations of disruptive behavior at a high-profile real estate event.

According to Daily Mail, San Antonio Police Officer Kristie Bush faced disciplinary action following incidents at the University of the Incarnate Word's Rosenberg Sky Room on March 16.

The evening took a contentious turn when officers responded to complaints about Bush's conduct during her contracted DJ performance. Event staff reported that Bush, who performs under the name DJ Kristie Rose, became intoxicated while entertaining approximately 350 guests.

Police Response To Distinguished Event

Body camera footage captured the confrontation between responding officers and Bush, who wore a dark dress deemed inappropriate for the occasion. Fellow officers noted her bloodshot eyes and slurred speech during their interaction.

Bush initially claimed she had consumed two drinks before revising her statement to "one wine" that remained unfinished. Her requests to leave the premises to use her vape device were repeatedly denied by responding officers.

The suspended officer became increasingly agitated during the exchange with her colleagues. She maintained her innocence throughout the encounter despite mounting evidence to the contrary.

Escalating Tensions Among Law Enforcement

Bush expressed concerns about her career prospects during the incident. She pleaded with officers about the situation's potential impact on her professional future.

Another off-duty officer, Jonathan Kavanagh, became embroiled in a heated exchange with event staff while attempting to explain the situation. Though escorted from the venue, he later returned under police supervision to collect Bush's DJ equipment.

The confrontation intensified when Bush reportedly directed profanity at a San Antonio Police Department cadet, asking, "What the f**k are you looking at?"

Administrative Actions And Consequences

San Antonio Police Department initially imposed a 45-day suspension on Bush. Following a meeting with Police Chief William McManus, the punishment was reduced to 30 days.

The department cited multiple violations in their disciplinary action, including improper use of intoxicants and discourteous behavior toward the public and fellow employees. Bush also faced charges of conduct prejudicial to good order and being unfit for duty.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, Bush did not face criminal charges for her actions at the gala. The incident resulted solely in administrative consequences.

Event Aftermath And Resolution

The real estate awards ceremony, which hosted hundreds of guests, continued after Bush's removal from the premises. Event organizers maintained order by working with responding officers to handle the situation discretely.

The incident highlighted the challenges faced by law enforcement officers who maintain secondary employment. Bush's case served as a reminder of the professional standards expected from police officers, both on and off duty.
