Tyrese Gibson misses deadline to face animal cruelty charge

 October 2, 2025

Actor Tyrese Gibson has not complied with police orders to turn himself in following an arrest warrant for animal cruelty.

Georgia authorities say Gibson failed to surrender by the Friday deadline after his four Cane Corso dogs allegedly mauled and killed a neighbor's dog in mid-September. Breitbart reported that the "Fast & Furious" actor faces charges stemming from what police describe as an ongoing issue with his dogs.

The warrant represents part of a larger pattern of incidents involving Gibson's pets over recent months. Fulton County Police have received multiple calls about the dogs before the fatal attack occurred.

Incident Details And Police Response

The deadly attack took place just after 10 p.m. on September 18 when a neighbor released their small spaniel into their yard. The dog owner returned five minutes later to discover their pet had been severely injured by Gibson's four large dogs.

Emergency veterinary care could not save the spaniel, which died from injuries sustained during the mauling. The neighbor's residence was located approximately half a mile from Gibson's Atlanta home, where the dogs had escaped.

Following the attack, the four Cane Corso dogs were spotted at an adjacent property, where another neighbor contacted police. The frightened homeowner reported being afraid to leave her house due to the presence of the aggressive animals.

Law Enforcement Warnings And Legal Process

Gibson had received multiple warnings from authorities before the arrest warrant was issued for animal cruelty charges. Police had previously attempted to cite the actor for violations related to his dogs, but Gibson was not present at his residence during those visits.

Fulton County Police Captain Nicole Dwyer spoke with Gibson's attorney last week to establish the Friday surrender deadline. The conversation was intended to ensure Gibson understood the legal requirements and timeline for compliance.

Police executed a search warrant at Gibson's property on September 22, but neither the actor nor his dogs were found at the location. The absence of both Gibson and the animals during the search has complicated the ongoing investigation.

Safety Concerns And Community Impact

Captain Dwyer emphasized public safety as the primary concern driving the police response to the repeated incidents. She expressed particular worry about the potential for escalation given the size and aggressive behavior of the dogs involved.

"Our priority is the safety of the community and when there's so many incidents of dogs, especially large dogs like this, getting out and then killing an animal, you know, what's next? A child?" Dwyer stated. The captain stressed that protecting residents from dangerous animals remains the department's main focus.

Police officials have described the situation as an "ongoing issue" that has generated multiple emergency calls over several months. The pattern of incidents has raised concerns about the actor's ability to properly contain and control his pets.

Actor's Response And Legal Representation

Gibson's attorney, Gabe Banks, confirmed that his client is "cooperating fully with authorities to address and resolve this matter responsibly." The lawyer emphasized that Gibson was not present at his home when the fatal attack occurred.

Banks stated that Gibson "immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment" following the incident. The attorney also conveyed Gibson's condolences to the family who lost their beloved pet in the tragic attack.

Gibson posted a video to Instagram on Monday featuring various clips of his dogs without providing verbal commentary. The video included audio from "The Breakfast Club" podcast, where hosts discussed the legal case against the actor.
