On March 6, Elise Caffee and her husband, Dan, were en route to a wedding in Cancun when their vehicle collided with over ten other vehicles. Among the chaos, a truck filled with hot asphalt overturned, significantly impacting their car.
The accident took place directly in front of a hospital, which allowed immediate intervention from medical staff. Despite their efforts and the bravely rushed assistance by Dan, the severity of the situation was overwhelming due to the scorching asphalt.
"Hospital workers rushed out and immediately started trying to help get people out from under cars as did my Dan, but were getting burned through their protective gloves because the asphalt was so hot," described an eyewitness.
