A single night of law enforcement operations in Washington, D.C., resulted in dozens of arrests as federal authorities continue implementing President Trump's crime reduction strategy.

According to Fox News, 68 people were arrested on Saturday night as part of the ongoing crackdown on crime in the nation's capital. The arrests were part of a larger operation that began on August 7 and has now documented 308 total arrests.

Officials seized 15 illegal firearms during Saturday's operations across the capital city. The charges against arrestees included aggravated assault, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest during the enforcement actions.

Federal Operations Expand Across Capital

Additional charges filed against the 68 arrestees included fugitive from justice, felony grand larceny, and possession of controlled substances throughout the night. Some individuals were also accused of fleeing from law enforcement and driving with revoked permits during traffic stops.

Three homeless encampments were cleared on Saturday without incident as part of the broader cleanup efforts. No arrests were recorded during these dismantling operations, according to a White House official who briefed reporters on the activities.

Transit police members were observed patrolling U Street on Saturday as part of the expanded security presence throughout the district. The operations represent a coordinated effort between federal and local law enforcement agencies working together to address crime concerns.

White House Highlights Crime Reduction

Taylor Rogers, a White House spokesperson, emphasized that Trump's leadership is making the nation's capital safer through these comprehensive operations. She stated that over 300 dangerous criminals have been arrested and removed from Washington D.C. streets in less than ten days since the operation began.

"President Trump is delivering on his campaign promise to clean up this city and restore American Greatness to our cherished capital," Rogers told Fox News Digital. The White House shared these arrest numbers with Fox News on Sunday following the Saturday operations that spanned multiple neighborhoods.

Attorney General Pam Bondi praised the efforts in a social media post on Sunday, highlighting the collaboration between agencies. She emphasized that over 300 arrests have been documented, with Saturday night's operation resulting in 68 arrests and the seizure of 15 illegal firearms from suspects.

Operation Targets Gang Members

The 308 total arrests since August 7 include 135 illegal immigrants identified by the White House as gang members or violent criminals. Bondi noted that homicide suspects and drug traffickers are among those being charged in the ongoing operation spanning multiple weeks.

"Over 300 arrests in D.C. — and counting: Just last night, our federal and DC law enforcement partners made 68 arrests and seized 15 illegal firearms," Bondi wrote on social media. The Attorney General specifically mentioned that homicide suspects, drug traffickers, and other criminals are being processed through the justice system.

The law enforcement blitz comes one week after Trump vowed to make Washington, D.C., safer and more beautiful through decisive action. He emphasized his commitment to caring for the nation's capital through these comprehensive enforcement actions targeting multiple criminal activities.

Administration Promises Continued Enforcement

Trump wrote on Truth Social that he would take care of the cherished capital and make it great again through sustained efforts. He referenced the city's past beauty before the presence of tents, squalor, filth, and crime, expressing confidence that it would return to that pristine state.

"Before the tents, squalor, filth, and crime, it was the most beautiful Capital in the world," Trump stated in his Truth Social post. The President declared that Washington, D.C. would soon regain its status as the world's most beautiful capital through continued enforcement operations.

Bondi's statement concluded with a promise of continued support for making D.C. safe again through sustained law enforcement efforts. She emphasized the ongoing collaboration between federal and local law enforcement partners in achieving these significant arrest numbers and maintaining public safety.
