Trump Border Czar Criticizes Biden's Security Policies Following New Year's Terror Attacks

 January 3, 2025

Trump's incoming border czar, Tom Homan, launches sharp criticism against the Biden administration following two separate attacks on New Year's Day.

According to Daily Mail, Homan referred to both the New Orleans truck attack and the Las Vegas Cybertruck explosion as 'suicide' missions during his appearance on Fox & Friends, despite investigators finding no immigration connections.

The attacks resulted in multiple casualties when Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old U.S. citizen and Army veteran, drove a truck into crowds celebrating New Year's Day on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, killing 15 people. In a separate incident, Matthew Livelsberger, 37, an active-duty U.S. Army soldier, was identified as the suspect in the Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas.

Border Security Claims Emerge Despite Domestic Origins of Suspects

During his Fox & Friends appearance, Homan expressed his views about both incidents. He claimed that both attackers were likely on suicide missions and would not have returned home. The former immigration official focused heavily on border security concerns, even though both suspects were identified as U.S. citizens.

Homan stated his predictions about the outcome of the investigation on the show. He suggested that both suspects would be found to have recent foreign travel history and ISIS connections. Law enforcement officials discovered an ISIS flag in Jabbar's rented truck following the New Orleans attack.

President Biden has urged caution against jumping to conclusions about the attacks. He confirmed that while Jabbar was inspired by ISIS, investigators are still examining possible connections between the two incidents. The FBI stated on Thursday that they have not found definitive links between the attacks.

Multiple Officials Push For Enhanced Border Security Measures

Tom Homan wasn't alone in connecting the attacks to border security. Trump's incoming national security adviser Mike Waltz called for closing the U.S. border following the incidents. President-elect Trump also attempted to link the New Orleans attack to immigration before the suspect's identity was revealed.

Homan made these remarks as Tom Homan shared:

I think they're both on a suicide mission. I think both of these incidents, these men knew they weren't going home.

The incoming border czar continued his criticism of the Biden administration's border policies. He claimed that the current situation at the border serves as an "open invitation for those around the world that hate this country."

Latest Developments Reveal Details About Both Incidents

Law enforcement officials provided additional information about both attacks during Thursday's press conference. They revealed that Livelsberger had rented the Cybertruck in Colorado Springs before driving it to Las Vegas. The vehicle contained fuel canisters and large firework mortars at the time of the explosion.

In New Orleans, investigators found potential improvised explosive devices in Jabbar's rented truck along with the ISIS flag. The FBI now believes Jabbar acted alone as a lone wolf terrorist. President Biden met with his homeland security team in the White House Situation Room to discuss the attacks.

These developments have sparked intense debate about domestic terrorism threats. While some officials push for increased border security measures, others emphasize the need for a more nuanced approach to preventing such attacks, given that both suspects were American citizens with military backgrounds.

Two Major Attacks Spark National Security Debate

The New Year's Day attacks in New Orleans and Las Vegas have intensified discussions about national security measures in the United States. While Trump's incoming border czar, Tom Homan, and other officials advocate for stricter border controls, investigators focus on domestic terrorism angles since both suspects were U.S. citizens with military backgrounds. The FBI continues to investigate possible connections between the attacks while maintaining there is currently no definitive link between the two incidents.
