Veteran officer pleads guilty to managing Long Island brothel operation

 September 17, 2025

A decorated Suffolk County police officer with 18 years of service has admitted to operating an illicit prostitution enterprise while serving on the force.

According to the New York Post, George Trimigliozzi, 56, pleaded guilty to enterprise corruption and promoting prostitution charges for his role in co-managing the American Girls Spa brothel in Holbrook. The six-time "Cop of the Month" recipient faces up to two years in prison for his involvement in the criminal operation.

The brothel was part of a larger prostitution network that operated three locations across Long Island between 2019 and 2024. The ring charged sex workers between $6,000 and $12,000 monthly for the right to work at their establishments.

Key Players in Criminal Enterprise Exposed

Frank Saggio, 61, identified as the mastermind behind the operation, ran the brothels alongside his mistress, Dana Ciardullo, 33. The pair managed multiple locations, including the notorious "Tunnel of Love" in West Babylon.

Prosecutors revealed that Saggio, a suspected mob associate, will forfeit nearly $1.9 million and faces two to six years in prison. His Fire Island property was seized by authorities as part of the investigation.

Ciardullo has agreed to serve six months in prison when she appears for sentencing on November 12. The couple's guilty pleas mark a significant breakthrough in dismantling the criminal enterprise.

School Teacher Implicated in Prostitution Ring

Steven Arey, 53, a former Islip School District gym teacher, allegedly helped Trimigliozzi manage the American Girls Spa location. The 26-year veteran educator was terminated from his position following his arrest.

Arey currently faces serious charges, including enterprise corruption and 27 counts of promoting prostitution. Unlike his co-conspirators, he has not entered a guilty plea or been convicted.

Prosecutors are pursuing multiple charges against Arey as they build their case against the former teacher. The investigation has sent shockwaves through the local education community.

Officer's Misconduct Extends Beyond Brothel Management

During one incident in March 2021, Trimigliozzi abandoned his police duties and drove 90 mph to respond to a reported robbery at the Holbrook brothel. This dereliction of duty highlighted his prioritization of illegal activities over police responsibilities.

The disgraced officer has also pleaded guilty to unlawful imprisonment for holding a woman against her will in his personal vehicle. This additional charge carries a 30-day sentence.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney emphasized the significance of holding corrupt public servants accountable. The prosecution team remains committed to pursuing justice in cases involving abuse of authority.

Corruption Case Reaches Final Stages

The investigation culminated in multiple arrests in April 2024, leading to guilty pleas from the main operators. Trimigliozzi's admission of guilt represents a significant victory for prosecutors.

The case has exposed deep-rooted corruption within local institutions, involving both law enforcement and education professionals. The guilty pleas ensure accountability for those who betrayed public trust.

The sentencing phase will begin on November 12, when both Trimigliozzi and Ciardullo are scheduled to appear in court. The community awaits justice as this complex case involving public corruption and organized crime reaches its conclusion.
