Fort Worth security guard faces murder charge after shooting man who smashed jewelry kiosk

 October 17, 2026

A Fort Worth security guard now faces a murder charge after fatally shooting a man who smashed a jewelry kiosk at La Gran Plaza, police say.

Tyron Henton, 31, was working inside the shopping center on Oct. 14 when the confrontation unfolded, Fox 4 reported.

Henton saw a man smashing a jewelry kiosk with a blunt object. He opened fire and struck the man.

The wounded man ran across the parking lot and collapsed near Seminary Drive. Fort Worth officers arrived just before 9 p.m. He died soon after they reached the scene.

Police took Henton into custody on Friday and charged him with murder. The facts come from a Fort Worth Police Department arrest report.

Authorities have not said whether Henton worked for the mall itself or a private security firm. They released no further details on the shooting.

Henton fired after the kiosk attack began

The chain of events stayed short and public. A jewelry kiosk under attack. Shots inside the center. A collapse outside. Death on arrival of officers. Then a murder charge for the guard who pulled the trigger.

Texas readers who follow sudden killings have watched other stark files, including one in which DNA confirmed creek remains as a flight attendant killed and dumped from a bridge.

Henton is identified only as the 31-year-old security guard at the center of the La Gran Plaza case. Police have not named the man he shot.

Violent crime and the charges that follow keep drawing steady attention. In one grim case, a New York man admitted killing and dismembering his ex-girlfriend.

Officers found the victim dying near the mall after the run across the parking lot. The arrest came days later, on Friday.

Other murder sentences have shocked the public as well. A Fort Bragg soldier got life for beating his 2-year-old daughter to death.

No case number or full charging language has been made public. Police have released nothing beyond the arrest report summary.

Cold cases still break open too. A Florida sheriff identified a man found in a waterway after forensic genealogy cracked a 43-year-old mystery.

A smashed kiosk, a dead man, and a murder charge for the guard leave one demand: full accountability in open court for every choice that night.
