US Carrier Strike Group Deployed

The United States Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group departed from Norfolk, Va., on Wednesday for its scheduled deployment to the U.S. Military's Central Command area of responsibility.

It is possible that the carrier strike group may be called upon to support NATO's Operation Atlantic Resolve in Europe. Military officials have not disclosed any information about the mission of the Strike Group but did say more details may come out soon.

The strike group is joined by Destroyer Squadron 28, which includes USS Cole (DDG 67), USS Bainbridge (DDG 96), USS Gravely (DDG 107) and USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109).

USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), the flagship of the strike group, is named after President Harry S. Truman, who led America through some of its most challenging times during World War II and the Cold War.

The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group is made up of approximately 6000 Sailors and Marines and is a serious threat to America's enemies.
