The FGM-148 Javelin is an American man-portable fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) used by infantry to defeat armored vehicles.
It was introduced in 1996 and is designed to be fired from the shoulder. The missile uses a high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead to penetrate armor and has a "fire-and-forget" capability, meaning that once it is launched the operator does not have to guide it to its target.
The Javelin has a range of 2.5 km and can be used against both stationary and moving targets. It has become a standard infantry weapon in many countries around the world and has seen use in multiple conflicts.
