The Black Lives Matter Grassroots organization has expressed support for the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which recently launched a brutal terrorist attack on Israel.
The attack resulted in over 900 deaths and at least 2,500 wounded, including 11 Americans. The organization issued a statement in solidarity with the Palestinian people, describing the attacks as a "desperate act of self-defense."
However, even if this brutal attack was an act of self-defense, it cannot justify the heinous treatment of innocent civilians that Hamas has demonstrated.
Solidarity With Terrorists
The Black Lives Matter Grassroots organization, representing 26 local chapters across the United States, issued a statement in solidarity with the Palestinian people, which seemingly includes the terrorist group Hamas.
The organization framed the violent attacks as acts of self-defense, stating that the world must stand "unwaveringly on the side of the oppressed".
The statement from Black Lives Matter Grassroots also called on the United States to cease its funding of Israel. It urged the U.S. government to redirect the $4 billion in annual spending towards repairing the damage caused by U.S.-backed wars and interventions.
Of course, this statement misses the obvious fact that the "oppressed" in this scenario are a group of people willing to slaughter and torture innocents.
A History of Support for Terrorists
Black Lives Matter activists have a history of supporting Palestinian and terrorist causes, especially during times when Hamas has engaged in violent attacks on Israel.
The Chicago chapter of Black Lives Matter also showed its support by posting a photo that reads, "I stand with Palestine," featuring a paraglider with the Palestinian flag.
This is an incredibly callous take considering that Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group, instigated this sickening assault.
The assinine statement from Black Lives Matter raises serious questions about the implications of the value of such an organization, especially when it involves support for groups engaged in acts of terror.
It also brings into focus the role of the United States in global conflicts and our role in confronting evil.
