In a heart-stirring video, Sergeant Donnie Rizer, a Hillsborough County officer, and a handful of brave civilians rescued a mother and her quintet of children from an overturned minivan. It was a regular Tuesday evening, just past 5:30 p.m., when the mother, attempting a left turn onto the southbound lane of Interstate 75, faced a horrifying incident. Her vehicle was ruthlessly t-boned, causing it to skid across the southbound lanes of U.S. 301, as reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Upon arrival, Rizer swiftly took command. He instructed the civilians present to steady the toppled vehicle while he daringly clambered through the sunroof to assess the situation. One by one, the children were liberated from the wreck, all except for a little girl, cruelly pinned by her seatbelt.
In the face of such adversity, Rizer remained unflustered. He offered reassuring words to the trapped child, promising her a safe exit. "It's ok, baby. I'll get ya," he echoed as he assisted her in escaping the wrecked vehicle.
