The SU-57 Felon: Russia's Attempt to Outclass the F-22 Raptor

 December 3, 2023

The SU-57 Felon (also known as the T-50 or PAK-FA) is a fifth-generation, single-seat, twin-engine, multirole stealth fighter aircraft developed by the Russian aerospace and defense company Sukhoi.

It is designed to perform a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions, and is considered to be one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world.

Some of its key features include low observability (stealth), supercruise capability, advanced avionics and sensors, and the ability to carry a variety of weapons.

The SU-57 is intended to be the mainstay of the Russian air force, and is expected to enter into service in the early 2020s.

SU-57 Felon vs F-22 Raptor

The SU-57 and the F-22 Raptor are both fifth-generation fighter jets that are considered to be among the most advanced in the world. However, there are some key differences between the two aircraft.

One of the main differences is that the F-22 is a pure air-superiority fighter, while the SU-57 is a multirole fighter that can perform a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-ground missions. The F-22 has stealth capabilities vastly superior to the SU-57.

The F-22 has supercruise capability, which allows it to fly at supersonic speeds without the use of afterburners, while the SU-57 is not yet confirmed to have that capability. Additionally, the F-22 has a much larger weapons payload and internal weapons storage than the SU-57.

In terms of performance, the F-22 is considered to be more maneuverable and agile than the SU-57. Not to mention, the reliability of the F-22 is vastly higher than the Felon.

Overall, both the SU-57 and the F-22 are incredibly advanced and capable fighter jets, but the F-22 is significantly more advanced and has a much more proven track record of performance.

What do you think, do the Russians stand a chance to ever outclass the F-22?

  1. Regardless.......The Fighter Jets are Impressive Planes that can be of Amazing Use - during any kind of war or in flight. The Planes are ONLY AS GOOD as the Brains and Smarts of the Pilots...... I Believe Our U.S. Pilots are trained better and thus.......Put them in the seat of a fighter plane and Guess Who Will Come Out the Winner...???
