Michigan Republican governor nominee Tudor Dixon is running has proposed a sweeping pro-law enforcement bill to reverse what she calls standing Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s "violent crime wave."
Dixon's plan to reverse course and turn Michigan into a safe state will be no easy task. Michigan was quick to adopt an anti-law enforcement attitude and has seen a major uptick in crime over the last year.
Devastating Crime Wave
Rising crime in parts of Michigan have been a gut punch to residents. Citizens are reporting that the state feels less safe, especially in urban areas.
According to a recent survey, barely half of Grand Rapids residents report a general feeling of safety, down almost 10% from last year.
Detroit is among the most violent cities in the country, following the trend of spiking violent crime across the country in the wake of anti-law enforcement sentiment and COVID lockdowns.
The violent crime rate in Pontiac is almost 4 times the national average, while Mount Morris and Ypsilanti boast double the national average.
Muskegon Heights Michigan, despite a relatively small population of just over 10,000, is arguably the most dangerous city in the United States with a homicide rate of over 10 times the national average.
Leftist policies to blame
But why is Michigan struggling so badly with violent crime? To us, the answer is clear: a rapid decline of support for Law Enforcement over the last few years. In fact, one could argue there has been a militant, top down undermining of law and order.
Multiple Michigan cities have tried to force Police Departments to hire social workers instead of more Officers, despite being massively understaffed.
City Councils, Mayors, and even State leadership has threatened to defund law enforcement agencies while supporting the anti-cop movement.
It comes as no surprise that these so called "leaders" all associate with the same ideology: progressive leftism.
It's important to note that this is not the same as being a Democrat, though it is becoming very difficult to differentiate these days.
Progressive leftism seeks to undermine the constitution, is economically insolvent, and is largely based on moral relativism. But, that is an article for another day.
The point must be made that the Michigan crime wave is largely due to leftist policies and a general breakdown of law and order.
A spark of hope
While innocent blood is indeed being spilled in Michigan, there is a spark of hope.
If radical leftist policies made this mess, it's just possible that reasonable conservative leadership can clean it up.
Of course, this will be no easy task and not for the faint of heart. This is where Republican Governor candidate Tudor Dixon comes in.
Despite leftist claims that the Republican party is anti-woman, this powerhouse of a gubernatorial candidate just so happens to be female. More importantly? She is qualified for the job of making Michigan citizens feel safe once again.

Of course, we've all heard many politicians promise to make things better only to see disappointing results. This is even true of recent Republican politicians who get into office and fail to get the job done.
It's time for Republican politicians to put words into action. Here's hoping that Dixon wins the race and actually follows through.
What do you think, can Dixon win against Whitmer? Does she have what it takes to turn things around? Is she the real deal, or another politician presenting empty promises?
