Too many people view police as first responders only. The truth is that officers often go above and beyond within their communities. Fortunately, this community policing model is becoming more and more common in modern law enforcement.

The Dallas Police Department epitomized this recently with a wonderful act of kindness and generosity to a woman and her children who had recently escaped an abusive situation:

The Police officers not only provided the furniture, but several helped put it all together and arrange the pieces throughout the house. The woman and her children were overwhelmed with gratitude.

This story is an example of community policing at its best. The woman and her children will be forever grateful. Stories like these spread throughout the community and build trust between citizens and law enforcement.
